An LED dive light can make diving an even more enjoyable experience. They allow you to see things underwater more clearly and easily. Following are some simple guidelines to use when purchasing a dive light. Understanding what you want as well as your diving needs are very important factors.

What size of LED dive light to buy if you are a beginner:

Divers without much experience need to know what type of light to buy. For beginners, the smaller the better. You want a light that is more hands free or just easier to use. They have small hand held lights the size of small flashlights. For hands free use, they have lights that strap on to a persons arm, and even have a more expensive unit that is like a head band. It wraps around the head with a light in the middle so you can have the light follow your eyes. Beginners have limited vision underwater, so a large light would not be good to buy anyway.

More experienced divers light size:

If you do have experience, some of the larger lights are in the shape of large guns and are very powerful and allows you to see all around you. There are also the gun type lights that are the size of large hand guns and they look like them as well. They are bright and can show a large area and they are very popular for seeing fish and wildlife. There are also large LED dive lights that are as large as a persons leg and sometimes they need two arms to hold onto. These are usually used by expert divers or even professionals doing research.

What types of material are they made of:

There are many shapes of dive flashlights, but there are also many types of material that they are made of. Some are very hard plastic or rubberized material. Others are very light weight and durable also made of plastic and rubberized material.

Minor things to look at when buying an LED dive light:

Some people don’t care what the light looks like but others will. Many want basic shapes and material like rubberized products. Others may feel what it looks like is important. They come in various shapes and colors. The most popular seems to be the brighter colors. This will allow you to find the light easier if it gets lost in the water.
